The Longing of My Heart

I want to serve you, God. It’s the longing of my heart.
What can I do? Where shall I start?

Your motives must be pure. Your attitude must be right.
So that your gift of service will be pleasing in My sight.

You need my Holy Spirit’s help so pride won’t enter in.
For them the gift you offer is tarnished by sin.

You can be a living sacrifice every hour of the day.
In everything you do; with each word you say.

A smile on your lips, a heart that really cares.
Can bring rays of warm sunshine, into hearts cold with despair.

A dreary, unimportant job is needing to be done.
When done for Me in love, ho-hum can be fun.

Someone is lonely and needs your time today;
Will you give it gladly and honor Me this way?

A helping hand is needed, there are things you’d rather do.
A willing heart is the response that I am seeking from you.

Your actions and words can speak volumes to a world that is hurting and lost.
Jesus is your Savior and example of what sacrifice really cost.
